How it all Began
Blair and Matt met at the Taylor Bend YMCA in the Summer of 2010. What started off as a friendship bonding over Pop Culture quickly became the start of a lifelong love. They were married September 29th 2012.
After attending the first ever Tidewater Comicon at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Virginia Beach they began working on a joint adventure Super Lampshades. Super Lampshades consisted of Decoupaged lampshade covers, nightlights, and light switch covers. They gained success at local events in Hampton Roads.
After a few years and many talks with peers Matt and Blair decided that they wanted to go from Super Lampshades to owning their own comic shop. Bella Books Comics & Toys was formed in June 2016.
Matt, an army brat, grew up living in Izmir Turkey, Wiesbaden Germany, and several States in the US. In each new place he bonded with friends over Comic books, X-Men the Animated Series, and Final Fantasy.
He has over fifteen years of Retail and Customer service experience. He graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.
Blair grew up on a large supply of Archie, Superman, and Wonder Woman Comics. She is a huge lover of Disney, the Muppet’s, Back to the Future, and Lord of the Rings.
She has both a Bachelor’s Degree from Old Dominion University for Real Estate and an MBA from William and Mary.
